The Case of the Missing Trophies Jason Holmes, a fifth grader at Fairview Elementary, invents a compressed air-boosted bicycle and enters the annual Great Bicycle Race. His friend, Matt, and the class bully, Luke, join the race with their own bicycles, but they all lose against a mysterious newcomer on a red racing bike. Coming to school the next Monday morning they find the athletic trophies have been stolen from the glass trophy case in the school lobby and the Principal, Dr. Bassett, has called in Inspector Howell of the local police force. Jason, Matt and Luke set out to solve the crime, much to the annoyance of Inspector Howell, but they find few clues. Jason’s younger sister Amy and Matt’s younger sister Karen, whose assistance is unwanted by the band of boy detectives, press ahead anyway and discover the thief. This sets off a chain of events which leads to the attempted murder of the school athletic coach and to a one-on-one bicycle chase, where the air-boosted bicycle saves Jason’s life.>>> |
