by Karl F. Milde, Jr. The Case of the Haunted Summer Camp Come summer, after graduation from fifth grade, Jason, Matt and Luke are off to the boys’ Camp Wigwam on Indian Pond in Maine, while Amy and Karen head for the girls’ Camp Wenonah, on the opposite side of the lake from Camp Wigwam. At the Saturday night campfire powwow, Chief Rain Cloud, the camp owner, relates a ghost story about an ill-fated Indian brave, turned spirit, who has all the campers on edge. The next day, Jason and his friends set about to design and try out a new kind of sail for one of the camp sailboats. Meanwhile, on the other side of the lake, four young ladies at Camp Wenonah, Mary, Chris, Beth and Felicia, are dying to meet the boys of Camp Wigwam. They get their chance when Jason, Matt and Luke break the rules and sail over. The very next weekend the first inter-camp dance at Camp Wigwam is interrupted when Ms. Hardecker, Headmistress of Camp Wenonah, who has accompanied her campers on their visit to the boys’ camp, receives a call that a ghost has appeared in one of the cabins back at her girls’ camp. Amy and Karen, who were too young to attend the dance, were in the cabin at the time and were scared out of their wits. Jason, Matt and Luke start an investigation where they uncover and block an attempted fraud in a high-stakes real estate deal.>>> |
